Admit it, aside from the curb appeal of the house that you just bought, the big backyard with its wide open space was one of the reasons you bought the house. With the weather getting warmer in Smithtown, NY, and Summer fast approaching, you can't wait to invite your new neighbors, family, and friends for a great Saturday cook out. So whether, this is a housewarming event for your brand new Smithtown home or just a gathering of old friends and new neighbors, here are a few ideas to make it an epic BBQ party!

Get Ready!

The best BBQ parties don't just happen overnight. Take the time to plan the cook out at least a week ahead. This way, you can send the invites out, and your friends and family can clear their schedule for the party. This will also give you a good idea how much food to prepare.

Once the invites are out, and you have a rough estimate of how many people will be attending, head out to the Grocery and get all the supplies you need for the BBQ. Keep your menu simple, or you can also do a potluck party, and your guests can add up to the menu.

Do a thorough clean up of your patio, deck or backyard or wherever you're planning to hold your barbecue party. Don't forget to clean the furniture and chairs that you'll be using and set it outside. Be sure to clean and fire up the grill at least a day before the event and make sure that it's working fine. Check that you have all the things you need - charcoal or gas and prepare the supplies needed to grill your barbecue like a pro!

Sweep off fallen leaves, mow the grass and make the place look comfortable and inviting for your guests. Try to clean up the inside of the house and the bathroom too. Make your Smithtown home as lovely as possible.

The night before the party, prepare all the ingredients for the BBQ, marinate the meat, chop up the veggies for the salad and refrigerate them overnight.

Get Set!

For a few friends and family, a menu consisting of burgers, hot dogs, and chips should suffice. But if you're planning on being the grill master that you are, expand your menu to ribs, pork and chicken and your guests should be going home happy and full. And never forget the dessert, you can buy fruits and slice it up nice and serve it chilled.

For the drinks, keep your options open and not limit it to just beer. Try concocting a signature drink for the ladies; frozen margaritas are always a big hit! Be sure to have soda and water for the kids too.

Go and Get the Party Started!

On the afternoon of the party, make your family, friends, and neighbors feel at home as you prepare the grill. Play feel good music that will set the mood for the cookout session. Plan a few games especially if there are kids in attendance. Keep the mood light and happy with fun conversations.

But remember that the best BBQ parties are not just all about the menu, the drinks or the games. It's about the people that you invited, your family, friends or your new neighbors and the stories you share over drinks and BBQ. It's a few people wanting to have a good time and being with the people that matter most to them.
