Historic St. James is an unincorporated hamlet with a population of about 13,000. Situated on the north shore of Long Island, St. James has easily accessible beaches as well as nearby state parks that offer tennis courts, kayaking, nature walks, playgrounds and ball fields. Residentially, St. James has mostly half and quarter acre lots with older colonial homes mixed with newer ranches, capes and cottages. You will find smaller houses and lots along 25A and Lake Avenue which is the main thoroughfare through the town. St. James is a convenient commuter location with an LIRR station right in town or an express train just a 10 minute drive away. Don’t forget to visit the St. James General Store, a historic treasure.
